said Majeed Al Gassab, President of the Bahrain Society of Engineers'Organisers expect nearly 800 delegates from across the globe to participate for the internationally acclaimed event.'
Amer Al-Sulaim, Vice President of Saudi Aramco Industrial Services, the lead organizer of the event, said:

The AMPT conference series was founded in 1993 at Ireland's Dublin City University where it was held in 1993, 1995, 1999 and 2003.
Other venues of the conference have been Portugal, Malaysia, Spain, Poland, US, and last year at South Korea.
The conference provides a chance for academicians, researchers, and engineers to meet and exchange innovative ideas and information on all aspects of material processing technologies.
Mr Sulaim added:
'The AMPT 2008 Conference organizers received high quality papers from researchers and practitioners from academics as well as industrial researchers from all over the world.'

Over 550 abstracts for possible presentation in the conference were received from various countries including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Iran, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, UK, US, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, Taiwan, India and Malaysia.
Among these, the Technical Committee has accepted 320 papers eligible to be presented at the three-day event while the oral discourse will be held in eight technical sessions.
Mr Sulaim said:'This conference will create an environment of mutual interest between industry and academia. Organising the conference, the Bahrain Society of Engineers will enhance their capabilities and add to the experiences of this society. The scope of conference will include all aspects of materials' processing, particularly metals, ceramics, polymers and fibers.
The conference will also comprise of a panel discussion facilitated by Professor M S J Hashmi and Professor Y T Im.
They will be accompanied by key panelists of distinguished industrial leaders, specialised engineers, and renowned academicians presenting and discussing the challenges, developments, and current needs of industries in relevant areas of Materials and Processes.
For this year's session, the AMPT organisers will once again give away the honorable W. Johnson Gold medal awards in order to recognise and appreciate distinguished academic achievements.
The medal will be awarded to the most distinguished academician involved in materials and processing research and teaching. Previous recipients of the medal, since 1993, are from the UK, Japan, South Korea and Poland.
An exhibition will be held in conjunction with the technical sessions during the conference in which more than 24 companies are participating. Companies, consulting and research organizations will get an opportunity to display and demonstrate their products and services related to the subject of Advance Material Processing and associated services.
