ExxonMobil will study the gas situation in Bahrain, said Dr Abdul Hussain Ali Mirza, Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs. He said that the study would look into the quantity of gas that Bahrain has and how best to use it.
Bahrain is also negotiating with Iran for gas supplies. However, the priority is for gas finds from the home base. The availability of new technology that will increase extraction of gas from the reserves has boosted chances of Bahrain's dependence on domestic gas, he added.
Hussain Ahmed Al Ansari, General Manager, Maintenance at Bapco, told Bahrain Tribune that the company was primarily using Petrotech as a network service. The company is set to explore new technology and products. He added that the engineers of the company should look for modern maintenance techniques.
The exhibitors are by and large the same, he added. About 30 per cent to 90 per cent are from the downstream industries, he added. In addition, there are also EPC contractors, who are coming strong.
The theme of this Petrotech is "Together we excel", said Al Anasari. The focus is on integrating of refining and petrochemical into one complex.
