A long-time Middle East ally to the United States announced today the launch of a new educational website. The Office of the Economic Representative of Bahrain (OERB) to the United States, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, launched http://www.bahraingateway.org to better familiarize Americans with the country, its century-old friendship with the United States, and to further strengthen the region's economic stability through free trade.
Today's launch comes on the heels of debate over a groundbreaking agreement seeking to ease trade barriers and grow the economic relationship between the two countries. The new site features detailed economic, cultural, geographic and environmental information on Bahrain and highlights the strong historical ties between the country and the United States.
The site will be an up-to-date resource on news of the debate over free trade and highlights five important areas of interest.
Culture – A section highlighting Bahrain's efforts to meld the conveniences of modern life with the strength of traditional values. Recent advances have touched every aspect of Bahraini culture: political reforms, women’s rights, labor protections and religious tolerance.
History – An account of the 100-year history of Bahrain/US friendship, from the first American hospital in Bahrain to Bahrain's strategic support as home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet to its steadfast backing of anti-terrorism efforts.
Economy – A section that showcases Bahrain as a future-focused country with interests beyond oil. The section details Bahrain's emergence as a banking and finance leader in the Gulf region with a business climate exceptionally favorable to foreign investment.
Geography – A look at Bahrain's strategic location in the heart of the Gulf Region and why it is considered the “Gateway to the Gulf.”
Environment – An examination of Bahrain's efforts to protect its water, land and air resources from pollution, exploitation and erosion.
The OERB partnered with Washington DC-based creative agency, Unison http://www.unisonagency.com to design a branding system, produce print marketing collateral, to design and co-ordinate a print advertising campaign, and to create and launch the web site.
