GPIC Profits Hit $75 million

Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) posted an interim net profit of $75 million for the first half of 2006, a 5.7 per cent increase compared to last year.

Total production surged by 26 per cent to 741,672 tonnes, with exports up by 41 per cent compared to last year.

Adviser to the Premier on Industrial and Oil Affairs and board chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation to the shareholders and board members for their role in achieving such results, pointing out that the company is reviewing new investments opportunities to maintain the success of GPIC and its development.
